Betsy is passionate about creative art
Once a year in New Haven, CT, families come together for Box City – a unique event organized by the IAIF (International Arts and Ideas Festival). Betsy has been named the'mayor' of Box City for the two day interactive / creative art event in which families create buildings with recyclables.

It all began in 2009, when Betsy's husband passed away. During the newness of being alone after a great 40 year marriage, Betsy began to explore her world without a partner. Being a risk taker and a “growth seeker” (as she dubs herself), she found herself seeing life very differently. She discovered new artful healing outlets and took some oil and acrylic painting classes.

Betsy is busy repurposing found objects to bring new life to her works. Mixing media with collage births unusual healing art paintings for children and adults alike. The marrying of the multitude of mediums results in a overlaying of the senses with surprising results.

She adores nature, all of the arts, good healthy foods, and exercise that feels like play. Living from her heart opens up compassion and empathy, which helps her see beyond her senses and is evident in her abstract collage mixed media pieces.

Her hands seem to gravitate to different media and items (recyclables) to depict the emotions within her, while passion grabs her soul. She is totally mesmerized as she is creating. She is surprised at the lapsed time. She is always delighted that something so worthwhile and meaningful has sprung from the peaceful fun time playing with materials. She finishes off each painting with her selected "antique" frames. The clients are emotionally moved by the creative paintings. Betsy is able to tap into the spiritual needs (healing guides) of her clients.

The Awakening
The true awakening for this new remarkable outlet emerged in Betsy after a two week journey with her family to Brazil. They went to a very little town called Abadiania, which is located in a 'crystal vortex', outside the capitol of Brasilia. Through meditating, being with Joao de Deus, a medium, and having several interventions of healing as well as some learning with Shaman Heather Cummings, Betsy became more attuned to her soul's purpose and feeling fabulously healthy. She had gone to Brazil with Lyme disease. She returned absolutely healed.

Betsy's mind, body, spirit and emotion were transformed. This “trip of a lifetime” (as she calls it), resulted in her becoming more insightful. She says she owes her new amazing life, with its fascinating creative art masterpieces, to the work in Brasilia and the continuous energy work (Reiki, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Jin Shin Juytsu).

She studied shamanism now with Shaman Sandra Ingerman. "Learning to be with the unknowing and taking risks, reaps huge rewards," she says. While speaking to groups about her experience, people are always intrigued with her healing, growth and new creative talents. They feel her vibrant, energetic existence and want to be a part of it. This often leads to her art commissions.

You can contact Betsy to speak to your group, and/or to create a healing painting for you, your organization, hospital, clinic, doctor's office, place of work or worship.
